Pictured below, 40mm long, 10 degree grip angle up, kit.
Stock throttle cables are removed from twist grip then lead behind and
above triple
clamp and reconnected. No bodywork need be removed.
Four tie wraps were removed to provide slack for the wiring.
Wires should be retied after installation.
No changes to brake hose or clutch hose.
Net position change 1.0" back , 1.5" up.

Regarding item #1 below. It appears that some GT bikes have longer throttle
cables than others. If your bike has the longer cables (possibly from the very
first batch) they may reach the new hand grip position with the standard factory
routing. Placing them behind the clutch hydraulic hose may be the only change
needed. Our test bike was fresh from the crate and had cables that did not
reach.
Two customers have told us that their stock cables were long enough.

We spent most of Saturday working on a GT at Roman cycle.
Conclusions:
1 - Running the stock cables under and in front of the triple clamp does not work
properly.
2 - Running them behind and above the triple clamp continues to function well.
We experienced no binding in the cables.
In the picture (below left) you can see the throttle cables entering from the
upper right, turning 90 degrees and terminating at the throttle bodies behind
lots of other wiring and vacuum hoses. Notice that the "open" cable is
attached to the plastic air duct by a metal clip and the "close" cable
is attached to the "open" cable by a plastic clip ( In the area where
the white tape and green tape are wrapped around the cables). The cables are
held in position for a specific reason. In the right picture, the throttle off
(close) cable ends at a steel plate on which is mounted a micro switch. The
cable housing end is spring loaded against the steel plate. A tab molded into
the housing end cap reaches up to the micro switch. When you close the
throttle at the twist grip, the housing moves against spring pressure and trips
the switch, shutting off the cruise control. (More below)
Cables housing length and lead angle from the retaining clips is
critical to having this switch function properly. You can check your switch any
time by listening (engine off) for its faint clicking sound when the throttle is
forced closed against the spring and again when pressure is released.
Item #2: Mirror to windshield clearance.
We tested a set of modified parts that improved windshield clearance. With the
mirror shaft set parallel to the grips and the modified bar backs installed, the
mirrors just begin to touch at full lock with the windshield all the way down.
We will have these new parts available now (8-25-03)
and will exchange, no
charge, for customers who have the first version. With the new version, hand
grip sweep back angle is increased by 7 degrees per side compared to both the
factory and first version.
Overhead view of new parts. View of mirror shaft angle - Mirror retaining nut
uses 6mm hex wrench, both sides are right hand thread.
